About the University
The University of Hyderabad (UoH) is a premier Central University located in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, Telangana, with the address: India Post Lingampally, CR Rao Road, Hyderabad Central University Rd, Hyderabad, Telangana 500046. It was founded on 2nd October 1974 through an Act of Parliament. The university initially began at ‘The Golden Threshold’—a heritage building in the heart of Hyderabad gifted by Sarojini Naidu’s family. This structure housed the university until it moved to its sprawling 2,500-acre campus. Today, the building functions as a cultural hub and home to the Centre for Distance and Virtual Learning.
Recognized as an Institution of Eminence (IoE) in 2019, the University of Hyderabad (UoH) stands out as one of India’s premier academic institutions. About the Centre for Psychology
The Centre for Psychology at the University of Hyderabad is dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, and the application of psychological principles to society. It houses advanced laboratories—including experimental, counselling, behaviour technology, and sleep labs—equipped with instruments like biofeedback, neurofeedback, and polysomnography to provide students with hands-on experience. The Centre conducts research across diverse fields such as health psychology, developmental psychology, counselling, psychometrics, positive psychology, sports psychology, and women’s health.

Interesting Fact
- World Suicide Prevention Day (Sept 10): Organized by students and faculty to raise awareness on depression and suicide warning signs.
- World Mental Health Day (Oct 10): Focuses on reducing the stigma around mental health. Activities include interactions between professionals and the university community.
- inPSYght: An annual 2–3 day event offering workshops, mental health awareness, and free psychological assessments. Those identified with potential issues are guided toward follow-up counseling.
