About the University
Rajiv Gandhi University (formerly Arunachal University) is the premier institution for higher education in the state of Arunachal Pradesh. The University got academic recognition under section 2(f) from the University Grants Commission on 28th March, 1985 and started functioning from 1st April, 1985. The University was converted into a Central University with effect from 9th April 2007 as per notification of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The University offers Certificate Courses, Diploma, Post Graduate Diploma, Under Graduate, Post-Graduate and Ph.D. programmes.

Department of Psychology
- The Department of Psychology was established in 2017. It aims to build awareness about human behavior and its relevance to society. It currently functions with two Assistant Professors and one Guest Faculty.
- Students engage in interactive classroom sessions, lab training, field visits to mental health centers and counseling cells, and guest lectures by experts. This comprehensive approach prepares them to work as professionals in clinical, organizational, academic and research settings.
- Mental health advocacy, gender studies and psychological interventions during crises like COVID-19 have also been major areas of research and service, highlighting the department’s commitment to real-world impact.
