About the University

Tripura University started in 1976 as a Post-Graduate Centre of Calcutta University, became a state university in 1987, and a Central University in 2007. It aims to provide quality education and support the development of people in Tripura through academics and research. Located in a peaceful, pollution-free area, the campus offers a great environment for learning. The university also works to preserve local culture and traditions. It has 2 faculties, 44 departments, 4 study centres, and a Directorate of Distance Education to help students in remote areas. Future plans include expanding the campus, adding smart classrooms, more hostels, better facilities, and using technology for teaching and administration.

About the Department

The Department of Psychology at Tripura University started in 2011 and began offering MA and PhD courses in 2012. The aim is to train professionals who can contribute to society locally and globally.

Students can specialize in Clinical Psychology or Organizational Psychology, with a focus on skill-building and self-employment. The department prepares students to become teachers, counselors, therapists, trainers, and researchers.

It has a Psychology Lab for behavior assessment and a Computer Lab for research, surveys, and digital learning.

Students also complete internships at hospitals or organizations.

A Mental Health Counseling Center has been set up for students and the public. Students come from Tripura and other states like Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Sikkim, and West Bengal.

Intake Capacity – 20 + 2 (EWS)
Duration – 2 years (4 Semesters)
Eligibility Criteria – Passed BA/BSc.(Hons/Pass.)in Psychology or any other subject other than language groups OR Appeared/ appearing in final examination of BA/BSc (Hons./Pass) – 2025 in Psychology or any other subject other than language groups.

CUET PG 2025 Topper’s Interview

Intake Capacity: As per UGC rule
Course Structure of First Semester – The coursework shall have two compulsory papers on Research Methodology, one paper on Emerging Areas of Research (in the concerned discipline), and one paper on how to review literature and write research proposals. All the papers shall be of 4 credits each.

Application Procedure
  1. Admissions for UG, Integrated Master’s, and PG programs will be through CUET (UG) 2025 and CUET (PG) 2025, conducted by NTA.
  2. Along with CUET scores, existing Tripura University admission rules will also apply.
  3. For UG/IMD programs, apply on https://cuet.samarth.ac.in from 1st March to 24th March 2025.
  4. For PG programs, apply on https://cuet.nta.nic.in from 2nd Jan to 8th Feb 2025.
  5. Seat intake will remain the same as last year (check university website), but may change if needed.
  6. Fees will remain same as last year. New Alumni Fee: ₹200 for UG/PG, ₹1000 for Research Scholars.
  7. Applicants can apply for maximum 3 programs, but must apply separately for each.
  8. PWD candidates (40% or more disability) are exempted from Admission/Semester fees.
  9. After CUET results, register on Tripura University admission portal using your CUET application number.
  10. TU will conduct online counselling, and dates will be notified on the official website.
  11. After counselling registration closes, merit lists will be declared.
    Selected candidates must pay fees online to confirm admission.
  12. If a student misses the deadline, the seat will go to the next candidate on the waiting list.
  13. If seats remain vacant, TU may conduct direct admission as needed.
