About the University

The Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya (MGAHV) is a central university in Wardha, Maharashtra, that was founded in 1997 by an Act of Parliament. The university was established with the goal of elevating Hindi as a national and international language by fostering and advancing the language and literature of our country. The university adopts the principles of Mahatma Gandhi, promotes the Hindi language, and focuses on global outreach. By teaching various subjects in Hindi and developing standardized textbooks, it supports Hindi as a medium for advanced study.

Objectives

  • To develop Hindi as a regional, national, and international language
  • Make the university a center of international discourse
  • Spread and follow the humanitarian values of Mahatma Gandhi – peace, ahimsa, truth and secularism
  • Strengthen Hindi as a language of communication, business management, and administrative work
  • Provide an intellectual environment for scholarship and learning in Hindi

About the Department of Psychology

The Department of Psychology at Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya (MGAHV), Wardha, is dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi’s vision by developing a psychological framework that meets the needs of ordinary Indian people while respecting the country’s cultural, social, and ethical values. It promotes a holistic approach to education and research based on Gandhian ideals.

Apart from this, the following cells have also been created to enhance the academic activity in the Department of Psychology:

  • Vinoba Yoga Mandal  : For the study and promotion of Yoga.
  • Samvaad Manch  : To enhance sharing of knowledge across different disciplines
  • Parivesh Manch:  To enrich the surrounding environment naturally
  • Manoshala:  For providing psychological counseling and services
  • Character building school outreach project:  for the value development of children of Wardha

B.A Psychology (HONS.)

  • The objective of this program is to make skilled, mindful psychologists with an excellent theoretical foundation and practical skills. It maintains a significant value on multidisciplinary learning, ethical, novel studies, and practical application. Students are exposed to a variety of methodologies, theories, and applications, which equips them to make significant contributions to society and to people.
  • Duration : 3 years (6 Semesters)
  • Eligibility Criteria: Passed Intermediate examination from a recognized Institute with minimum 50% (45% for SC/ST/  OBC (Non-Creamy Layer )/ Persons with Disabilities) marks in any discipline or subject .
  • Admission Process: Written examination and interview at departmental level.

Program Overview : M.A Psychology

  • Curriculum produces competent psychologists with a multidisciplinary, socially applicable perspective, a strong theoretical foundation, and ethical research competencies. Its main goals are to advance theoretical understanding, support qualitative and quantitative research, and promote inclusive, practice-based learning in a variety of psychology disciplines.
  • Duration: 2 Years (4 Semesters)
  • Eligibility Criteria:  Passed Graduation (10+2+3) examination from a recognized University/Institute with minimum 50% (45% for SC/ST/ OBC (non-creamy layer)/ Persons with Disabilities) marks in any discipline or subject. 
    Preference will be given to students of related discipline
  • Admission Process: Written examination and interview at departmental level.

  • Duration  : One year (two semesters)
  • Admission Process:  Written exam and interview at departmental level.

Interesting fact

Established by an Act of Parliament, the university is the only one committed to advancing Hindi as an international language, consistent with the objective of the First World Hindi Conference.
