What is UGC NET?

  • Assistant Professor appointments
  • Ph.D. admissions in Indian universities and colleges

It is conducted twice a year, usually in June and December. The December 2025 cycle is currently open for applications.

  • JRF Age Limit: Maximum 30 years as of 1st December 2025 (relaxations up to 5 years).
  • For Assistant Professor or Ph.D. Admission: No upper age limit.

Step-by-Step Guide to Fill the UGC NET December 2025 Form

This is the most important section -take your time and follow each step carefully!


Step 1: Online Registration

  1. Visit the official portal: https://ugcnet.nta.nic.in
  2. Click on “Apply for UGC NET December 2025.”
  3. Use your own email ID and mobile number (not someone else’s) to register.
  4. Fill basic details like name, date of birth, and gender as per your Class 10 certificate.
  5. Once submitted, a system-generated Application Number will appear — note it down safely.

Step 2: Filling the Application Form

After registration, log in using your Application Number and password. Then fill the following details:

  • Personal Information: Full name, parents’ names, gender, category, nationality, and address.
  • Educational Details: Details of your Master’s degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Exam Preferences: Choose your subject code (refer to Appendix-II of the official bulletin) and select four exam cities in order of preference.
  • Identification Proof: You can use Aadhaar, Passport, PAN, Driving Licence, or any valid government ID.

🔹 Important: Double-check spellings, category selection (General / OBC / SC / etc.), and subject codes. Wrong entries can cause form rejection or exam mismatch later.


Step 3: Upload Scanned Documents

Prepare these files before starting upload:

  • Use a white background, with 80% of your face visible (no mask).

  • Use blue or black ink on white paper.
  • Upload your running signature, not in block letters.

Step 4: Fee Payment

Once your form is complete and documents are uploaded, proceed to payment.

  • Payment can be done via Debit/Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.
  • Accepted banks include SBI, HDFC, ICICI, and Canara Bank.
  • After successful payment, you will get a confirmation message and receipt.

Keep a screenshot or PDF of the payment receipt and confirmation page for future reference.


Step 5: Download Confirmation Page

After payment, your form will be considered successfully submitted only when the confirmation page is generated.

  • Download and print multiple copies of the confirmation page.
  • Do not send any physical documents to NTA.
  • Keep it safe until your exam and result process is complete.

Step 6: Correction Window (10th–12th November 2025)

If you’ve made a mistake – don’t panic!
NTA opens a short correction window to fix certain fields like:

  • Personal details (minor corrections)
  • Exam city
  • Uploaded documents

Once the correction window closes, no further edits are allowed.


Admit Card & Examination

  • Admit cards will be released on the official NTA website closer to the exam date.
  • You must carry:
    • Printed Admit Card
    • One photo ID proof (same as used in the form)
    • A passport-size photo for attendance sheet

Exam Duration: 3 hours (no breaks)
Papers:

  • Paper 1: General Teaching & Research Aptitude (50 questions, 100 marks)
  • Paper 2: Subject-specific (100 questions, 200 marks)
