About University

Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT), New Delhi, is a premier seat of higher technical education in India. Formerly known as Delhi Institute of Technology, the institution was established in 1983 with the objective of catering to the growing demand for skilled professionals in the emerging fields of engineering and technology through a strong social and industrial interface.

Originally affiliated with the University of Delhi and functioning as an autonomous institution under the Government of NCT of Delhi, the institute was elevated to the status of a non-affiliating university under The Delhi Netaji Subhas University of Technology Act, 2017 (Delhi Act 06 of 2018). As per the Delhi Gazette notification dated September 27, 2018, NSUT officially became a university on September 26, 2018, with Prof. Jai Prakash Saini appointed as its Founder Vice-Chancellor.

The Act aims to reconstitute and upgrade the institute to provide comprehensive education and research across various disciplines including engineering, technology, sciences, humanities, social sciences, and management. It also emphasizes the advancement of learning and dissemination of knowledge in these domains.

NSUT has earned national and international recognition for excellence in education and research. With a highly conducive academic environment, the university has consistently been ranked among the top engineering institutions in India, as highlighted in various reputed national-level surveys.

Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS), Main Campus:

The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) at NSUT, established on 16th December 2013, initially focused on enhancing language and soft skills for engineering students. It now offers M.A. English and M.A. Applied Psychology (since 2022), along with a growing doctoral program. The department integrates literature, ethics, psychology, and social sciences to foster creativity, critical thinking, and real-world awareness. It houses a 72-seat Language Lab and offers electives like Soft Skills, Environment & Society, and Sociology. The M.A. English course blends literary studies with employability in media and communication, while M.A. Applied Psychology trains students for practical roles in clinical, counseling, HR, and forensic settings.

Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (East Campus)

The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) at NSUT, East Campus, was established on 16th December, 2013, following its separation from the erstwhile School of Applied Sciences and Humanities. The department plays a vital role in enhancing students’ academic, professional, and real-life communication abilities, with a special focus on English language proficiency.

In addition to language instruction, the department offers a diverse range of electives in Philosophy, Psychology, and Sociology, addressing key areas such as:

Sociology: Human relationships, social structures, community organization, and social welfare.
Philosophy: Moral reasoning, ethical analysis, human values, responsibilities, and justice.
Psychology: Stress management, mental well-being, and organizational behavior.
