About the University

Banaras Hindu University (BHU), founded in 1916 by Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya with support from Dr. Annie Besant, is a prestigious central university located in Varanasi. Spread across a 1,300-acre main campus and a 2,700-acre campus in Mirzapur, BHU is a hub of multidisciplinary education with 6 institutes, 14 faculties, and over 140 departments. About the Department

The Department of Psychology at BHU, established in 1949 and independent since 1962, is a leading center for psychological education and research in India. It emphasizes both experimental and applied psychology and houses 7 state-of-the-art laboratories. To meet modern organizational needs, the department offers a specialized 2-year Master’s program in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations, aiming to develop professionals who are both technically skilled and rooted in humanistic values.

Paid seats at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) are a special category of seats offered in addition to the regular (merit-based) seats in various regular courses. These are called supernumerary paid seats, meaning they are extra seats (not exceeding 15% of the total seats in a course) and do not reduce the number of regular seats available.

Important Points

• Admission to BHU PG Programs 2026-27 will be based on CUET (PG) 2026.
• BHU follows the Combined Allotment Program [CAP (PG) 2026] for counselling and seat allotment.
• Candidates satisfied with their allotted seat can choose the Freeze option to confirm and finalize their admission.
• Candidates who do not freeze their seat may get upgraded to a higher preference in later rounds based on merit and seat availability.
