About the University
The Central University of Karnataka (CUK), established by an Act of Parliament (No. 3 of 2009) at Kalaburagi, Karnataka, is one of the 16 new Central Universities set up during the UGC XI Plan Period to promote equity and access to quality higher education, especially in educationally backward regions with low Graduate Enrolment Ratios. With jurisdiction across Karnataka, the university began its academic operations in August 2009 and is committed to achieving academic excellence while ensuring inclusive education and fair opportunities in admissions and recruitment.
Spread over a 654-acre campus near Kadaganchi village in Kalaburagi district, CUK is also noted as one of the first among the new Central Universities to shift to its permanent campus in a relatively short time. The university aims to integrate teaching, learning, research, innovation, training, and skill development, offering programmes across Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Management, Sciences, and Engineering, while also striving to develop a green, energy-efficient, and sustainable campus.
About the Department
The Department of Psychology at the Central University of Karnataka (CUK) is an academic unit within the School of Social and Behavioural Sciences dedicated to the study and advancement of human behaviour and mental processes. It aims to promote a multidisciplinary understanding of psychology by integrating insights from social work, social sciences, and behavioural sciences.
The department focuses on developing students’ critical understanding of biological, psychological, social, cultural, and economic factors that influence behaviour. Through teaching and research, it strives to nurture socially responsible professionals who are empathetic and committed to human welfare, social justice, and improving the overall quality of life at both individual and societal levels.
About the Programme
B. Sc. Psychology
- Duration:8 semesters
- Seats-30+3 (EWS)
- Eligible candidates must have passed PU/Plus Two from a recognized Indian or foreign board with at least 50% aggregate marks (45% for OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Kashmiri Migrants). Admission to B.Sc. Psychology will be based on CUET-UG 2026 (conducted by NTA) score in the General Test.

MSc Psychology
- Duration- 1/ 2 years
- Seats-40+4(EWS) Seats Two Years
- For 2 years M.Sc Psycology:Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized Indian or foreign university (as per AIU equivalence) with at least 50% aggregate marks (45% for OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Kashmiri Migrants). Admission is based on CUET 2026 performance and applicable reservation policies.
- For 1 year M.Sc Psycology:4-year BA/B.Sc. (Hons/Research) in Psychology from a recognized Indian or foreign university (as per AIU equivalence) with at least 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST and Kashmiri Migrants). Admission is based on CUET-PG 2026 performance and applicable reservation policies.

PhD- Psychology
- Duration:Minimum 6 Semesters
- Master’s degree in Psychology (or equivalent) from a recognized university with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD/Kashmiri Migrants), along with a Bachelor’s degree of at least three years duration from a recognized institution. M.Phil. with coursework in Psychology is also eligible. The qualification must be in a relevant subject recognized by the university.

Step 2: Log in using your CUET (PG)-2026 or GATE-2026 credentials.
Step 3: Fill in personal details such as name, contact information, and category.
Step 4: Enter academic qualifications carefully in the application form.
Step 5: Select your preferred programme(s) based on eligibility.
Step 6: Upload required documents in JPG/PDF format (max 500 KB each).
Step 7: Pay the registration fee online through the portal.
