About the University

Doctor Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, formerly known as the University of Saugor, was established on 18 July 1946 by the eminent jurist, educationist, philanthropist, and social reformer Dr. Sir Hari Singh Gour through his lifetime savings of nearly two crore rupees, making it one of the rare universities in India founded entirely through the contribution of a single individual. Recognized as the 18th university of India and the oldest and largest university in Madhya Pradesh, it became a Central University on 15 January 2009. Located amidst the scenic Patharia Hills near Sagar city, the university spreads across 1312.89 acres of lush green campus and is known for its academic excellence, rich biodiversity, and peaceful environment.

The university comprises numerous teaching departments, schools, affiliated colleges, well-equipped libraries, hostels, research centers, and student facilities. About the Department

The Department of Psychology at Doctor Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya was established as an independent department on 18 March 1963, although psychology teaching in the university began in 1959. Since its establishment, the department has developed into a recognized center for teaching, research, and academic excellence in the field of psychology. The department continuously adapts to modern developments in psychological studies and offers specialization in areas such as Cognitive Psychology, Positive Psychology, Social Psychology, Clinical Psychology, and Health Psychology. Postgraduate (M.A./M.Sc.)	Graduation in any Discipline
Ph. D.	A Master’s degree in the concerned/relevant/allied subject with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent CGPA or equivalent Grade.

• Master of Arts/Master of Science(Psychology)

  • Eligibility:Graduation in any Discipline: Candidates belonging to Unreserved (UR), EWS and OBC-NCL categories must have secured at least 45% marks or equivalent CGPA. A relaxation of 5% marks in the qualifying examination will be given to the candidates belonging to SC, ST and PWD categories.
