About the NIEPVD
National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (Divyangjan) (NIEPVD) has been functioning since 1943 for the education, training, rehabilitation, and empowerment of persons with visual impairment under the administrative control of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MSJ&E), Government of India.
To better cater to the training and rehabilitation needs of the visually impaired population in the Southern Region, its Regional Centre was established at Chennai in 1988. Additionally, the institute coordinates and supervises rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities through its four Composite Regional Centres for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Employment of Persons with Disabilities (CRCs), which include locations at Sundernagar (H.P.) and Gorakhpur (U.P.).
About the Department
The Department of Clinical and Rehabilitation Psychology and Research (DCRPR) at NIEPVD, Dehradun, offers a structured, tier-based professional training pathway in Clinical and Rehabilitation Psychology that is fully aligned with the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) and the National Education Policy 2020. Students in this department receive progressive academic knowledge, intensive supervised clinical exposure, and clear professional role definitions at each level of training. Furthermore, the department operates as an independent clinical unit providing outpatient services, community outreach, interdisciplinary liaison, and supervised research opportunities.

Eligibility Criteria
B.Sc. Clinical Psychology (Honours)
- Minimum Qualification: Class XII (Science Stream) from a recognized Board.
- Minimum Marks: 55% for General category and 50% for SC/ST categories.
Post Graduate Diploma in Rehabilitation Psychology (PGDRP)
- Minimum Qualification:
- Option 1: M.A./M.Sc. in Psychology. OR
- Option 2: B.A./B.Sc. with Psychology as a full subject in all three years.
- Note: Candidates having only one or two papers of Psychology (e.g., Educational Psychology in B.Ed.) or those holding only an M.A. in Psychology without an undergraduate degree in Psychology are not eligible.
- Minimum Marks: 55% for General category and 50% for SC/ST/OBC/PwD categories.
- Minimum Qualification:
M.A. Clinical Psychology
- Minimum Qualification: Applicants must possess one of the following qualifications:
- Four-year B.A./B.Sc. in Psychology.
- Three-year B.A. in Psychology along with a completed one-year bridge course (PGDRP/PGDCP).
- B.A. in Psychology with successful completion of the first year of M.A. Psychology.
- B.A. in Psychology with a completed M.A. degree.
- Minimum Marks: 55% for General category and 50% for SC/ST/OBC categories.
- Minimum Qualification: Applicants must possess one of the following qualifications:
Psy.D. Clinical Psychology
- Minimum Qualification & Marks:
- Regular Entry (4 Years): M.A./M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology or Psychology from a university recognized by the UGC with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate (50% for SC/ST/OBC/PwD categories).
- Lateral Entry (2 Years): M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology approved by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI)

Selection Process
- Objective Examination: The initial selection stage consists of a 100-mark Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) examination with a duration of 2 hours.
- Negative Marking: There is no negative marking in the objective test.
Shortlisting and Advanced Stages
- Merit-Based Shortlisting: Based on the merit list generated from the 100-mark Objective Examination, only the Top 6 candidates will be shortlisted and invited to the subsequent stages of the selection process.
- Subsequent Selection Components: The shortlisted candidates are evaluated on two additional advanced stages:
- Written Test: Valued at 40 Marks.
- Practical Assessment: Valued at 40 Marks.

Application Process
Step 1: Complete the Online Application Form

Step 2: Payment of Application Fee
Applicants are required to pay the prescribed application fee through the official payment channels as designated by the Institute before completing the form submission.
Step 3: Upload Payment Proof
After making the transaction, candidates must upload a clear proof of payment (such as a transaction receipt, reference number, or screenshot) within the online application portal to verify their fee clearance.
Step 4: Submit the Application
Review all entered details carefully to ensure accuracy against supporting documents, and complete the final submission of the application form online. Applications submitted through any other mode will not be accepted.
