About SPNIWCD (Formerly NIPCCD)

The Savitribai Phule National Institute of Women and Child Development (SPNIWCD) is a premier national-level institution dedicated to promoting the welfare, development, and empowerment of women and children in India. It functions under the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India.

Earlier known as the National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD), the institute has evolved over the years to expand its scope and impact in areas such as child development, gender studies, counselling, training, and research.

PNIWCD operates through multiple regional centres across India, making its services and programs accessible to a wider population. These centres include:

  • Guwahati
  • Bangalore
  • Indore
  • Mohali
  • Lucknow

Each regional centre plays an important role in delivering training programs, research initiatives, and capacity-building activities tailored to local needs.

About the ADCGC Programme

  • Offered by SPNIWCD, Regional Centre Guwahati under the Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India
  • Conducted in collaboration with the Department of Psychology, Gauhati University
  • Designed to provide a balanced approach combining theoretical knowledge and practical counselling training
  • Course Structure: 10 months coursework + 2 months internship
  • Medium of Instruction: English (for both coursework and fieldwork)

About the Affiliating University

Gauhati University was established in 1948 under the Gauhati University Act, 1947. It is the oldest and one of the largest universities in North-East India, serving as a major center for higher education, research, and cultural preservation in the region.

More than 300 colleges and institutions are affiliated with Gauhati University. The Advanced Diploma in Child Guidance and Counselling (ADCGC) programme has been affiliated with Gauhati University since the academic session 2021–2022.

  • Programme Details

    • Duration: 1 Year (Annual System)
    • Total Seats: 25
    • Fee Structure: The Fee structure for the Academic year 2026 – 2027.

    Note: Gauhati University fees are subject to change and must be paid directly to the university as notified, while SPNIWCD fees of ₹56,000 are payable in two installments of ₹28,000 each. The security deposit is refundable after course completion, and all fieldwork travel expenses must be borne by the students.

    Eligibility Criteria

    • Master’s Degree in Social Work / Psychology / Rehabilitation Psychology / Child or Human Development / Education
      OR M.Ed. in Special Education
    • General: Minimum 55% marks
    • Reserved (SC/ST/OBC/PwD): Minimum 50% marks
    • Aggregate calculated on all subjects (if not specified by the university)

    Note:Students awaiting results can also apply. However, they must submit their mark sheet and certificate at the time of admission, failing which their admission will be cancelled.

    Admission Criteria

    Admission to the ADCGC programme will be based on a two-stage selection process:

    1. Selection Process
      Candidates will be shortlisted based on their performance in the Written Entrance Test followed by a Personal Interview. Final selection will depend on overall merit.
    2. Eligibility for Interview
      • Minimum 50% in written test (45% for SC/ST/BC/PwD, except EWS) required for Personal Interview
      • In case of tie, Postgraduate marks will be considered for final merit
    3. Medical Fitness Requirement
      Selected candidates must submit a medical fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner at the time of admission.

    Written Entrance Examination

    1. Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
    2. Total Marks: 80
    3. Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
    4. Syllabus: General and Social Awareness, Problem solving ability and logical thinking, English
      Language Comprehension and Subject matter relating to Social work / Psychology /
      Rehabilitation Psychology / Child Development / Human Development / Education.

    Candidates will be informed via email/notice board, must carry valid ID + confirmation email; no admit card issued and no negative marking Exam & interview will be conducted offline at SPNIWCD Guwahati

    Personal Interview

    • Date & time shared via email; list also on notice board Assessment based on motivation, interpersonal skills, integrity & receptivity to supervision
    • Carry original documents + photocopies (ID, 10th–PG/M.Ed certificates, migration & category/EWS proof) for verification

Admission Procedure

  • Step 1: Click on the link given below to download the application form (attached at the end of this post). Print it and fill in all the details carefully. CLICK HERE
  • Step 2: Attach all the required documents along with the completed form. Make sure everything is properly filled to avoid rejection.(
  • Step 3: Submit the application before 08/06/2026.
  • Step 4: Pay the application fee of Rs. 500 (non-refundable) through online transfer to the institute’s bank Account No. 394602010002430, IFSC Code: UBIN0539465, Union Bank of India.
  • Step 5 (For candidates outside Guhati):Outstation applicants are required to send the hard copy of the duly filled Application Form along with copies of the required documents to the Institute, preferably via India Post Speed Post, and mail the scanned copy along with the online payment details and tracking ID to adcgcspniwcdghy@gmail.com.
  • Step 6: After the last date of application, the institute will release a list of eligible candidates who will be shortlisted to appear for the entrance examination.
  • Step 7: Based on the performance in the entrance exam, shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview, after which the final selection will be made.

List of Documents:Submit self-attested copies of Aadhaar card, two passport-size photographs, and all educational certificates & mark sheets (from Matriculation to Post-Graduation/M.Ed.).Also include category/caste certificate (if applicable) and migration certificate along with the application form.

Withdrawal Policy

Withdrawal request must be submitted within 15 days of admission to be eligible for refund 10% deduction will be charged on the total fee in case of withdrawal within 15 days After 15 days, no refund-full fee will be forfeited.
